Summary of Progress

Jan 2005: BXAG initiate and become a key part of a wider Brockley Common Partnership Group chaired by Joan Ruddock MP and including Network Rail, Southern Rail, John Stainer school & Lewisham Council
Spring 2005: in-principle written agreements from Network Rail, Southern Rail and Lewisham Council allowing most of land around station to be used for new public open space for the foreseeable future.

May 2005: First grant of £25,000 from Living Spaces secured for phase one which has to be spent by early 2006

May 2005: New design for Common developed by Rupert King presented to public, very well received with some concerns about upkeep and vandalism (which as been noticeably absent from our flower-bed)

Summer 2005: Lewisham Council submits a bid for @200k to Seltran. Decision expected by Christmas

Summer 2005: Lewisham Council agrees a local developer contribution (sec 106) of £28,000 which will become available when Mantle Road site begins

September 2005: BXAG hold a busking for commuters fundraising event. £546 raised plus one business from Brockley Business centre agrees to sponsor a future flower bed in Brockley Common for £500. Lots of requests that we hold the event again!

September 2005: Lewisham Council and Southern Rail agree to improve litter collection around Brockley station and across footbridge
