The Brockley Society
The Brockley Society is a registered charity. It is a community
association open to everyone who lives in the conservation area. It has no paid
staff and is run entirely by volunteer members; people do not have to apply to
join, if you live here and you want to get involved then you belong to BrocSoc.
Our income comes mainly from the Midsummer Fayre and is spent on local events
and on the newsletter which is produced several times a year and delivered free
to every household in the area. Our objectives are to conserve the local
environment, promote local community activity and improve local facilities.

Brockley Society's aimsBrockley became a conservation area in 1974 following a campaign from local residents to protect the area's overall character of period houses, large gardens and open spaces; all of which had largely survived intact since the area was first developed from around 1870, but were beginning to be under threat of extensive re-development. These residents formed the Brockley Society, (recognised by Lewisham Council) which continues today.
Brockley Society is open and free to all residents living in the Brockley Conservation Area who want to actively ensure that the area's unique character is conserved and amenities improved upon, and the community enriched.
See how you can get involved by coming along to one of our meetings – click on Meetings for further details.
Brockley Conservation Area covers Lewisham Way to the North; Adelaide Ave, Montague Ave and Hilly Fields Crescent to the South; Rokeby and Brockley Roads to the West and Tyrwhitt Road to the East. At present, 4000 households live in the Brockley Conservation Area, all of whom have the Brockley Society Newsletter delivered.
