We acquired the cottage in 2013 and invested in refurbishing the place to be used as a basic self catering holiday cottage for couples. We are pet friendly. It is strictly no-smoking inside the cottage. There is unlimited business quality broadband Internet available via WiFi and wired. A small garden area, and open space nearby for walking your dog Shower Gas heating/cooking Fully equipped kitchen Bosch washer dryer Fridge, freezer, microwave TV, sound bar, DVD Small library, DVDs, Maps and guides Optional: Laptop safe & web conference, Laptop & printer rental and Direct Dial phone number The facilities are sufficient for you to walk in, with some spare clothes and a bag of groceries, and live a normal routine life. In the bedroom, there’s a double bed (up to 6’2” tall) and linen is provided. Luxury towels are available for the shower room, as well as hotel style soaps, shampoo, conditioner and spare rolls of toilet paper.
What’s our philosophy?
For us, the cottage is a property investment. So we furnish it and operate it on a friendly business basis. We try to provide similar quality to a Premier Inn type of accommodation, but giving twice the space and generally a lower overnight price. There’s no avoiding the fact that the furnishings, carpets, curtains, linen, white goods occasionally get damaged by our guests. The holiday fees you pay help to cover those replacement costs and cleaning costs, also for building utilities, insurance, and maintenance. For longer breaks we offer discounts, if you share some of the work. After eight years, ignoring the man hours we put in to the cottage, we’re approaching break-even between income and expenditure. We always welcome suggestions for improvements, but they have to be cost effective.
